IOM Indonesia aims to improve the quality of care for refugees and asylum seekers referred to IOM by the Government of Indonesia according to applicable international humanitarian and human rights standards. IOM also contributes to the increased protection of vulnerable subgroups of displaced persons, such as unaccompanied migrant children (UMCs), victims of sexual and gender-based violence, pregnant women, and the elderly, among others, through the establishment of referral mechanisms involving the active participation of specialized state and non-state service providers.
Under the direct supervision and management of Senior Programme Associate (Refugee Care) in Medan and overall supervision of National Programme Officer in Medan, the incumbent will work in close coordination with the Programme Associate (Refugee Care) based in Medan. The incumbent will be responsible for providing support for day-to day implementation of Refugee Care activities in Medan.

Job Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of the Senior Programme Associate (Refugee Care) in Medan, participate in the implementation of the Refugee Care unit programme, particularly in organizing events.
  • Provide support for the day-to-day implementation of programme activities in coordination with the Refugee Care Unit in Medan.
  • Co-facilitate general/non-clinical counselling sessions under the direction and supervision of the Refugee Care Unit.
  • To facilitate professional development, participate in the comprehensive case management process, guided and supervised by the Refugee Care Team.
  • Maintain documentation and record-keeping for training sessions, meetings, and other Refugee Care Unit initiatives.
  • Support the Refugee Care Unit in the collection and maintenance of data related to mental health and psychosocial support.
  • Provide assistance in protection-related activities, including awareness sessions and protection cadre meetings.
  • Provide assistance in the distribution and response management of Freshdesk tickets within the Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CFM).
  • Provide support to the AVRR and the associated movement procedures.
  • Work closely with the education team to support school visits, coordinate with Principals, and participate in parent meetings aimed at enhancing student learning outcomes.
  • Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned.

Other Educational Qualification

  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum undergraduate school) in Public health, Medical health, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Work, Education, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or
  • Enrolled in a second university degree (graduate school/equivalent); or
  • Have graduated with a university degree within one year of graduation.

Skills

  • Relevant professional or volunteer experience with civil society organizations, volunteer groups is an advantage.
  • Excellence computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, email exchange, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), SPSS);
  • Flexible and open to learning new experiences
  • Good interpersonal, networking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied culture and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to write clear and concise report.
  • For this position, fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required (oral and written).
