The Naoero Education Program (NEP) aims to strengthen Naoero’s education sector performance and Australia’s Pacific relationships, driving shared prosperity and progress. The NEP has a focus on stronger literacy and numeracy outcomes; more equitable and relevant education pathways; and more inclusive, evidence-based, and efficient government systems.
The Pathways Adviser will provide strategic and technical support to Naoero’s Department of Education and Training to strengthen secondary education, career guidance, vocational learning and student transitions. Working with schools, government, TVET partners and industry, the Adviser will support inclusive and practical pathways into further education, training and employment. The role will also contribute to planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and capacity building, ensuring initiatives are sustainable, evidence-informed and aligned with Naoero’s workforce priorities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Strengthen secondary, vocational and career pathways in Naoero.
  • Support DoET and schools to develop and implement Senior Education and Training Plans.
  • Improve career guidance, work experience and transition opportunities for students.
  • Promote inclusive pathways for students with disabilities and vulnerable learners.
  • Coordinate with government, schools, TVET partners, industry and DFAT stakeholders.
  • Support planning, monitoring, reporting, evidence generation and staff mentoring.

Skills

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in education, workforce development or vocational training.
  • Experience delivering TVET, secondary education or career pathways programs.
  • Experience supporting diverse learners through inclusive and data-informed approaches.
  • Demonstrated skills in training, mentoring, stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of education reform, curriculum development and Indo-Pacific development programs.
  • Strong communication, reporting, ICT and problem-solving skills, with flexibility and cultural awareness.
