Australia Awards PNG supports Papua New Guinea’s development through education, knowledge transfer, institutional capacity building and enduring relationships with Australia. The program promotes inclusive partnerships, high-quality education and stronger accredited training institutions.
The Scholar Engagement Consultant will design and deliver up to two inclusive, culturally appropriate workshops for PNG scholars studying in Australia. The workshops will strengthen leadership, professional networking, reintegration planning, wellbeing and scholars’ contribution to PNG’s development priorities. Responsibilities include conducting a needs assessment, consulting stakeholders, developing workshop resources, facilitating sessions, embedding GEDSI and safeguarding principles, evaluating outcomes, and preparing reports with recommendations. This short-term assignment provides up to 40 days of input until 30 May 2027 and requires domestic travel within Australia.
Job Responsibilities
Assess scholar needs and review existing support programs and feedback.
Design culturally appropriate, inclusive workshop curricula and resources.
Facilitate up to two engaging, learner-centered workshops across Australia.
Consult and collaborate with scholars, Australia Awards PNG, DFAT and stakeholders.
Embed GEDSI, safeguarding, wellbeing and accessibility considerations.
Evaluate workshop outcomes and prepare reports, lessons learned and recommendations.
Other Educational Qualification
Tertiary qualification in education, human resource development, international development or a related field.
Skills
Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating adult professional development workshops.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including with scholars, institutions and government agencies.
Demonstrated ability to integrate GEDSI principles into learning and development activities.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Willingness and availability to undertake domestic travel within Australia.
