2Pi-Jobs is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the National Strategy on Medical Waste Management.
  • Support the elaboration of all relevant Risks and Environmental and Social Safeguarding (ESS) management tools, including by ensuring compliance with the existing Environmental and Social Commitments Plans (ESCPs).
  • Support the assessments and the consultations components which are required for the elaboration of the relevant ESS management tools.
  • Support the implementation, monitoring, reporting and accountability of the above management tools.
  • Deliver regular training sessions to UNICEF’s staff and partners – both IPs and vendors – on ESS, in collaboration with the relevant colleagues (AAP focal point, PSEA focal point, GBV focal point, Climate Change focal point, etc.)

Other Educational Qualification

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Social Studies, or another relevant technical field.

Skills

   

  • The candidate should have a master’s degree in environmental engineering, public health, health care management, or related subject.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in risk informed programming and management, or programme management that include:
  • Experience in social and environmental sustainability and design, implementation and preferably monitoring of social and environmental impact assessments and management plans.
  • Experience in occupational health and safety, social behavioral change, community engagement, gender.
  • Ten years working experience in health care safety, including infection prevention and control and medical waste management, health facility management, environmental health, health and nutrition services delivery, and/or public health.
  • Ten years working experience in program management.
  • Ten years working experience in development of training materials and in delivering training sessions.
  • Experience in negotiating with local authorities, especially about sensitive issues.
  • Experience in working with UNICEF.
  • Experience in report writing in English and Arabic for UN and donor audiences.
  • Arabic native speaker. Fluency in English will be an added advantage.
