Job Responsibilities
Coordinate effective project planning and implementation of all civil work in the project
Collaborate with local partners and beneficiaries such as the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior, and local authorities.
Coordinate the project implementation with the technical focal points of local partners and beneficiaries.
Liaise with the contractors and the beneficiaries to facilitate the implementation of the civil work on site.
Provision of technical inputs in construction projects with coordination with the engineering unit.
Participate in the pre-construction process of selecting the construction sites and conducting the technical evaluation and need assessment.
Prepare Bill of Quantities (BoQs) with estimation cost and preparing the executive drawings for the construction projects.
Participate in the bids’ evaluation of civil works, contributing valuable inputs for determining the minimum qualification criteria to shortlist construction companies.
Effective management and supervision for construction work.
Conduct regular visits to construction sites to monitor the progress of work in accordance with contract documents, record observations, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
Verify the quality of completed and ongoing works, providing valuable input for the issuance of necessary change orders to ensure project success and high-quality delivery.
Maintain close monitoring of the projects in coordination with the contracting firm, ensuring thorough verification of project quality and adherence to standards.
Verify that materials used meet the required standards and specifications.
Identify and mitigate risks related to construction activities and enforce safety protocols on-site, ensuring workers and community safety.
Mainstream gender in all aspects of project implementation.
Advise national and local partners, including RPs, on gender mainstreaming in project implementation and disaggregated reporting.
Uphold the UN Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy within the project team and with all project stakeholders.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor degree in any discipline
Other Educational Qualification
An Advanced University Degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Civil Engineering is required. or
A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree
Applicants with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
Skills
Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in governance.
Experience working in civil work/rehabilitation related to Rule of law institutions (courts, prisons, police stations, etc.)
Experience of at least one year working with a UN agency in community infrastructure.
Proficiency in engineering design software, like AutoCAD, ETABS, and project management tools.
Expertise in the review and preparation of technical documentation such as detailed designs, scopes of work, and bills of quantities.
Demonstrated experience and proven Knowledge of UNDP Social and Environmental Sustainability.
Experience in Public Procurement: principled and strategic purchasing of goods, services
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), MS Project, AutoCAD, and structural design software
Required Language(s) Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
