The overall objective of the Immunization, Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Polio Transition (IVP) programme is to reduce morbidity and mortality attributable to vaccine preventable diseases aiming their control, elimination and eradication through vaccination throughout the life course and effective vaccine preventable diseases surveillance in the context of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030).

Job Responsibilities

  • Synthetize immunization related data from different sources and provide analysis for inputs to regional immunization related reports, bulletins, regional meetings and publications.
  • Produce data visuals using various business intelligence tools, contribute to the dissemination of the data and analyses performed.
  • Disseminate information feedback to WHO country offices, Member States, IVP partners and WHO Headquarters.
  • Strengthen regional immunization data management system and data transfer between countries and regional office• Build and maintain data harmonization pipelines, develop and implement data models and SQL views.• Develop detailed documentation of data flows and data processing, including metadata.
  • Provide technical support to WHO country offices and Member States to strengthen immunization and Vaccine-preventable Diseases (VPD) surveillance information systems, VPD data management and data use for decision making.

Other Educational Qualification

Essential: A university degree (bachelor's) in a relevant field (such as public health, epidemiology, medicine, data science or statistics).
Desirable: Master's in public health, data science, statistics, epidemiology, or another related field.

Skills

  • Essential: A minimum of five years of work experience relevant to the position in health data, datamanagement and analysis and data visualization.
  • Desirable: Experience in data collection, management and analysis of immunization and Vaccine preventable Diseases (VPD) surveillance data. Relevant work experience, with WHO and/or UN agencies, health cluster partners, nongovernmental or humanitarian organizations. Some of the above-listed experience to have been obtained in an international context.Experience of working in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
  • EssentialDemonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, methodology and techniques of data management Excellent, meticulous data management skills,Skill in synthesizing reports, charts and infographics using programme data.Excellent communication and data presentation skills.DesirableAnalysis of vaccine preventable diseases surveillance and vaccination coverage data.Knowledge in communicable diseases surveillance and immunization.

Salary

  • USD: 64121 (Yearly)

Additional Salary Info

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 64,121 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1774 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
