2Pi-Jobs is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
IOM Comoros is implementing the European Union funded project “Strengthening the national system for emergency care and community-based protection of vulnerable migrants in the Comoros.”, whose overall objective is to stablish an emergency response and protection system for the most vulnerable migrants by reinforcing institutional, community and operational capacities, in order to safeguard the fundamental rights of women, children and other at-risk groups exposed to detention, violence, exploitation, abuse, neglect and risks of trafficking; and is recruiting a Project Associate for its Country Office in Moroni.
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Comoros, the Project Associate will carry out the following duties and responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of project activities related to strengthening emergency assistance and community-based protection mechanisms for vulnerable migrants in the Comoros.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly work plans, activity updates and progress reports, including the collection and compilation of data required to monitor project implementation and results.
  • Support coordination with the Administration and Finance Unit to follow up on project expenditures and assist in tracking the financial performance of activities in line with the approved budget and IOM rules and procedures.
  • Provide technical, administrative and logistical support for the organization of trainings, stakeholder consultations, community outreach activities and coordination meetings conducted under the project.
  • Support logistical arrangements before and during duty travel and field missions of consultants, experts, facilitators and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining effective working relationships with relevant government counterparts, community actors, civil society organizations, and UN partners involved in migrant protection and assistance.
  • Support the identification of implementation challenges and promptly bring them to the attention of the Project Manager / Head of Office for guidance and follow-up.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical inputs, meeting minutes and background materials for project coordination and technical working group meetings.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Other Educational Qualification

  • School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.

Skills

  • Experience supporting the implementation of humanitarian, protection, migration management or community development projects.
  • Experience in organizing trainings, workshops, consultations or community outreach activities.
  • Experience in administrative and logistical support, including travel arrangements, event coordination and documentation.
  • Experience in data collection, reporting and follow-up on project activities.
  • Experience working with government counterparts, civil society organizations or international organizations is an advantage.
  • Experience in projects related to protection of vulnerable groups, gender, child protection, trafficking or migrant assistance is a strong asset.
  • Previous experience with UN agencies or international organizations is desirable.
  • Good organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including community actors and institutional partners.
  • Good drafting and reporting skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow administrative and financial procedures.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of protection principles, migrant assistance or community-based approaches is an asset.
