This is an exciting leadership opportunity to guide a high-profile program with strong development and public diplomacy outcomes. The Team Leader provides strategic leadership and operational management of AAC, ensuring effective delivery of the program in accordance with the contract and in close collaboration with DFAT and key stakeholders.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to Cambodia’s development priorities while strengthening Australia–Cambodia partnerships.
Job Responsibilities
Providing strategic direction and operational oversight for the AAC program.
Leading delivery of the program’s core components, including scholarships, short courses, and enabling activities.
Overseeing monitoring, evaluation, learning, communications, public diplomacy, finance, and administration functions.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with DFAT, the Royal Government of Cambodia, alumni networks, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Driving program quality, risk management, reporting, and continuous improvement.
Ensuring inclusive programming that advances GEDSI, localisation, and climate-responsive approaches.
Supporting effective communications and public diplomacy to strengthen AAC visibility and impact.
Building a collaborative, responsive, and high-performing team culture.
Skills
Significant experience in donor-funded program management and implementation, ideally including DFAT-funded programs.
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship management skills, with the ability to build consensus across diverse partners.
Demonstrated experience in finance, administration, procurement, and human resources management.
Strong team leadership and people management skills, ideally in cross-cultural contexts.
Professional commitment to and experience in delivering gender- and disability-inclusive programs.
Sound financial management skills, including the ability to interpret and analyse financial reports.
Experience preparing high-quality strategic planning documentation and program reports.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Ability to work sensitively in a culturally diverse environment.
Experience working in Southeast Asia, with knowledge of Cambodia’s political and development context preferred.
Previous experience as a Team Leader on DFAT-funded programs.
Knowledge of Australia Awards and scholarship programs.
Experience in program risk identification and management.
